Visit Portland Castle, built by Henry VIII to protect the South coast. You can see the Tudor kitchens and get a real for the castle’s history.
You can sample a wide selection of Tudor instruments and watch interesting reenactments.
We have now visited The Hix Oyster and Fish House in Lyme Regis.
There are lots of things to see and do in Lyme as well as splashing out on a delicious meal!

A short journey from the cottage is Portland where you can walk amongst the beach huts, climb Portland Bill Lighthouse or stop for a lightlunch at the Lobster Pot Cafe next to the lighthouse.

Portland is a fabulous place to go for a walk amongst the beach huts, looking out across the sea.

The cottage has been treated to all new beds and mattresses in 2011. We hope our guests all sleep really well after their busy days on the beach or sightseeing.

“Upwey Cottage is a great little getaway, easy to travel to but tucked away down a very quiet unmade cul de sac. The owners have furnished it well and it has everything you might need including a box full of toys for young children, a well stocked bookshelf and a good wifi connection. The location is excellent, it’s a short walk or drive to practically everything you could think of – paper shop, chippy, supermarket etc. There is a lovely view across the fields from the kitchen window.”
